I really like the use of duality for playing off of yourself. A good example of this is jail on skyway. You can play site with your spectre in jail, and when you make contact you can switch to your spectre to get the kill. I think a similar map hook that may add another dimension to this sort of play would be a plexiglass material that has no wall pen but allows for clear sightlines. Your main character can be in the open on site with a spectre tucked away in a corner in Main. When you see an enemy, swap to your spectre to go for the swing. After the kill, swap back to your main and throw down your spectre puck safely on site. An interesting step further you could take this hook, is if the plexiglass gets shot, it will go opaque for 1 second. Allowing for vision denial at the expense of confirming your presence. I think it would be at least interesting to try in playtests, especially with how easy it is for a team to feel short of smokes.
Some potential issues with this may be that players feel a lack of agency when they can see an enemy but can’t shoot them. With the shield abilities, at least you can break them to initiate the fight. You also would have to ensure that the placement of such materials benefit both attackers and defenders. Since you can’t shoot through this material, only one side having benefit by it would probably feel annoying.
In the above design, attackers can also throw their spectre over the wall into a corner on the bombsite, allowing for use of this hook by both sides.
This page is where I will add any and all spectre divide ideas that I choose to actually draw or blockout. I think it would be fun to fully block out a site like the one above with all of the connectors and a fully realized main and CT.
